Hubby and I had the house to ourselves on Saturday night. It was far too quiet so we decided to make the most of the early evening sunshine, grabbed the dog who is always up for an adventure, and out we went for an early evening drink. I love being able to do this. After just moving into Cardiff from the Valleys, being able to amble to a (decent) local pub or eaterie is such a novelty … and one that we’re relishing.
After a swift pint of shandy at The Conway we decided that we’d explore further and try the Robin Hood pub on Severn Grove. We had no plans to eat really, and so we sat outside the front of the pub chatting to various groups of people. Oh so sociable is the Robin Hood! But after popping to the loo and getting a sneak peak of the Beer Garden, decided that we’d move to the beer garden at the back – mainly because the garden is sneakily large and more importantly, home to a fantastic pizza oven.
Of course the munchies had really struck by now and so we ordered a four cheese pizza. It took about 10 minutes to arrive (all watched intently by our four legged friend) and what a delight! The base was perfectly thin and crispy and the toppings of blue cheese, cheddar and two types of mozarella went down a treat. Whilst some pizza aficionados may baulk at two types of mozza, we found it quite delicious. I just hope that the lovely lady serving washed her hands before serving food once she’d lovingly cwtched our beloved dog. I’m sure she did.
So, fantastic pizza – even after burning the roofs of our mouths on the hot blue cheese. It mattered not, I’d had three drinks by now 🙂
