We’ve been visiting the Arbennig Emporium for some time.  It’s a gorgeous little place on Romilly Crescent and is home to just a few tables for those who want to sit down and have something to eat and drink.

That said, we never struggle to find a seat – but the place is always busy and is warmed by the lovely staff.  The Emporium is sister to Arbennig Restaurant next door and whilst slightly more relaxed – the attention to detail is just as evident.

We’ve been here many times and for the most part, I’ve been happy to have poached eggs on toast made from bread that I believe comes from the fabulous Pettigrew Bakeries.  It’s always tasty, and the toast perfectly done to a lovely crunch.

But always up for a change,  I’ve recently gone for for full veggie breakfast.  It’s deelish, quite frankly has always hit the spot!

The bean burger might be found a little spicy to some, but I enjoyed it.  The morning after moving house, it gave me a right royal ‘good morning’ and satisfied my moving house hungry hangover!

The star on the plate, quite unusually for me, were the potatoes – they’re well cooked and crispy, rather than the slightly soggy efforts that we’ve had too many times in past elsewhere.

So I’ve had two or three of these delicious breakfasts – my only minor quibble is that each time the portion/variation has been very different.   I don’t mind surprises – in fact I welcome them, but not at breakfast.  I’m far too hungry to be entertained by such things!

The delight of delights for me though, is my pot of green tea – or rather how it is dressed.  I don’t usually do the tea cosy thing but these are to die for!

The best breakfast in Cardiff ?  I don’t know if that’s quite right,  but Arbennig Emporium have given me the tastiest I’ve had thus far.   We will keep going back.
